The Management Team of Nilson Homes just returned from the International Builders Show. The website to learn about the show is www.buildersshow.com and the twitter account is #IBS2010. We learned numerous things about our industry and the economy. All of the experts predict that 2010 will be a good recovery year and that 2011 will be a year of expansion in the homebuilding industry. The experts taught us that the key to our success is to continue to build quality homes and to focus on customer service. In today’s demanding market, buyers expect and deserve to get the best home at the best price, while receiving the best customer service. Nilson Homes is definitely up for the challenge and we view 2010 as a great year for us to showcase our quality, pricing and customer service.
Along with the classes and learning, there was a lot of fun at the Builders Show. As a Management Team, we were able to have some good times along with learning at the classes. Boman & Kemp took us to dinner on the first night to a very nice restaurant at the Paris. We were able to have some really nice steaks and celebrate a great year of business with Boman & Kemp. They make it possible to make our basements a very comfortable and affordable space in each of our homes. On the second night, we went to a show by David Copperfield. Our Director of Production, Kirt Merrill was chosen randomly from the audience to participate in the final magic trick at the show. Copperfield made him and 11 other people “disappear” in front of our eyes. While they were “missing”, Kirt met Copperfield and received a signed photo. On the last night, we all went to see Frank Caliendo. He was hilarious with his impersonations of numerous celebrities and athletes. After the show, we went to a restaurant at the new Las Vegas City Center. Bruce Nilson, the Owner/President had his first experience with sushi. He went straight past the “California Roll” and had some salmon nigiri. Fortunately, he enjoyed the sushi and liked the taste and sensation of wasabi.
The International Builders Show was definitely a success and was a great experience for Nilson Homes. We learned a lot about the industry, marketing, financing and our own team. We are appreciative to the NAHB for putting on the show and look forward to participating in the show next year in Florida!
