d of us over the next year. We also feel very happy that we were able to have such a successful previous year, despite the challenges of our economy.
We first heard from our Sales and Marketing Director, Jed Nilson. He spoke about the plans to make Nilson Homes a more personalized company when it comes to marketing. Instead of representing our company with high priced ads and paid celebrities, Nilson Homes will interact with the public through the voice of our homeowners. We plan on getting even more testimonials from our homeowners and posting them on various websites so that potential buyers can hear what our homeowners have to say about our homes and the experience of having us build for them.
We then heard from our VP, David Lowry. He explained the challenges that exist in the world of construction financing. He has prepared a very calculated plan to deal with these challenges by continuing great relationships with Banks, utilizing our current assets to obtain financing and also obtaining new resources for private financing for developments and spec/model homes. We feel very prepared to take on any new obstacles that the lending world might put before us.
Our Production Director, Kirt Merrill then demonstrated to us the differences in how we used to build homes vs. the way we currently build and will continue to build in the future. As is the case with all good companies, Nilson Homes strives to improve our homes and our service on a regular basis. We have accomplished numerous advances over the past year. Amongst many things, we have significantly reduced the price of our homes, we have increased the speed of construction to where we can build a home in 90 days and we have increased customer satisfaction by improving the process of drafting plans and selecting colors and options.
The meeting was finalized by the Owner/President of Nilson Homes, Bruce Nilson. He laid out the vision of the future of Nilson Homes. We will continue to improve on living up to our mission statement, “Our mission is to build quality, custom new homes in a timely manner while providing exceptional customer service with a personal touch.” That means that we will focus more and more on the homeowner and improving their experience in building their dream home. We will also strive to provide the best energy efficient homes to help families enjoy their new home on a smaller budget. We will also strive to provide the very best in customer service so that we continue build homes for the friends and families of our current homeowners.
Even though there are many challenges ahead of us, this meeting reinforced to all of us that we are in a wonderful position to continue to provide quality homes to families and individuals across the Wasatch Front and in Evanston, WY. We look forward to doing this and great appreciate all those that choose Nilson Homes to build their new home.
