Ryan Bennett
1970-2006

On May 31st, 2006, Ryan Bennett was driving with his family in their Ford Expedition SUV near Fillmore, Utah. Bennett's car drifted off of the road and he immediately corrected the vehicle causing it to roll five times partially ejecting Bennett and completely ejecting his four year old daughter. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife and two of his four children were admitted to area hospitals in critical condition.

Nilson Homes recently help Ryan and Tonya build their new home in North Ogden. Ryan was an exceptional person. His wife and family are in need of community support during these difficult times. Ryan was self employed and lacked any formal medical or life insurance. If you care to donate to the Bennett family, click one of the links below to learn about ways to be of help. We were given the great opportunity to get to know the Bennett family through the building process.

NILSON HOMES PLANS DAY OF SERVICE IN MEMORY OF RYAN “THE HITMAN” BENNETT

OGDEN, UTAH (June 24, 2006) — Nilson Homes, residential home builder based out of Ogden, is coordinating a day of service for the Bennett Family, July 21st, from 8 am to 11 am. Along with a sizeable contribution, Nilson Homes’ entire staff will put in one day of hard labor to help the Bennett family finish the landscaping donated by Nilson Homes and several of Nilson’s trade partners.

On May 31st, 2006 Ryan Bennett, his wife Tonya and their four children, were involved in a terrifying automobile accident. The accident proved to be both horrific and fatal, taking the life of Ryan and critically injuring Tonya and two of their four children. Ryan, 35-years old, recently brought his family back to Utah. He was successfully making the transition from Californian sports caster to Utah business owner and radio personality for The Fight Network. Tonya and two of their four children have suffered unimaginable injuries and pain which has in turn produced horrendous financial burden. In an effort to help soften the financial burdens Tonya and her children face, Nilson Homes has offered the family monetary support.

“Nilson Homes recently help Ryan and Tina build their new home in North Ogden. We were given the great opportunity to get to know the Bennett family through the building process”, Said Bruce Nilson, President of Nilson Homes. “Our entire staff felt the loss of Ryan Bennett, his great attitude and infectious spirit made him a pleasure to work with. We understand that our gesture will in no way soften the sadness felt by Tonya and the children, but hopefully it will take away some unwanted stress during these mournful times.”

Nilson Homes is continuing their support for the Bennett’s by organizing a week of donations and service at the Bennett home in North Ogden. Though the donations of Nilson Homes’ trade partners the Bennett’s have received a sprinkling system, various trees and shrubbery, flowers and a playground-quality swing set. Each day this week has been filled with the outpouring of support and kindness from the community.

The culmination of this week of service will take place on July 21st, 2006 from 8 am to 11 am, where the entire Nilson Homes team will install the remaining portion of the landscaping. This will compliment the earlier installation of trees, flowers and playground-quality swing set.

“With the help of Lifetime Products, we have installed playground-quality swing set for the children. It will be a welcome distraction from the difficult times they have endured.” Said Nilson. “Though Lifetime has reduced the price of the play set, we are still in need of additional funds to finish the entire play area and support this wonderful family.”

With that in mind Nilson Homes is calling for donations on behalf of the Bennett family. If you are interested in donating please call Mindy Martineau at Nilson’s corporate headquarters, 801-392-8100 or email Mindy at mindy@nilsonhomes.com. Donations of any amount are welcome. All donations will go directly toward the completion of the playground. Any remaining monies will be given to Tonya Bennett and her children. Donations can also be made though the Nilson Homes Web site, www.nilsonhomes.com.

“It is rare that we run into individuals who touch lives like Ryan did,” Said Jed Nilson, Sales and Marketing Manager for Nilson Homes. “It is also rare to have the opportunity to be of great help to someone. Please take the opportunity with the Bennett family.”
